BGES Group was chosen to design and install a bespoke building management system for this new facility. The building posed several challenges, including vast open rooms with services on show. There were a lot of dissipated plant with heat recovery units (HRUs) in every space, and each HRU had slightly different control requirements.
Our brief was to design a system that both blended with the open environment but was easy to maintain and cost effective.
Our design comprised distributed IO (input/output): small enclosures were created for every HRU, each enclosure housing an IO module capable of servicing the points within the local vicinity.
All the IO units were then connected to each other to create a compete IO network of fully distributed IO and local control. The controls are on show to college students and staff, yet integrate seamlessly into the space.
The engineering team at BGES Group are education facilities experts, having commissioned successful projects for colleges, schools and universities. We have a proven track record of delivering high quality building management solutions, on time and on budget.
The distributed IO offered a number of advantages. The main panel is small with local wiring, which meant that our installers were working on one room at a time. This approach created time and cost savings in terms of installation and commissioning. The result is a cost-effective solution that is future-proofed and offers excellent control of the indoor environment.
We’re delighted with the bespoke BMS that BGES designed and installed. I was impressed with the team’s ability to think outside the box and come up with a solution that meets the unique needs of the building.
The system integrates seamlessly into each space and offers excellent control, creating a comfortable learning environment for students and staff to thrive. The BGES team were a pleasure to work with and communication has been excellent throughout.
