BGES Group sponsors a snowflake to raise funds for Sheffield Children’s Helipad Appeal

As Christmas time rolls around, BGES Group is proud to once again support the Children’s Hospital Charity’s Snowflake Appeal. This year, the fundraising focus is on raising money for a new helipad at Sheffield Children’s hospital.

Making a difference in the local community

As a designated Major Trauma Centre for children in South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw, serving over 375,000 children and young people, it is vital that patients can arrive to the Emergency Department as soon as possible.

Currently, the only landing space for a helicopter is in the public park opposite the hospital. Furthermore, it is only usable during daylight hours, which is very restrictive in winter months and is also subject to limitation during public events. Supporting the cause can make a difference to hundreds of thousands of lives.

So far, the Major Trauma Unit has raised £1 million of the £4.5 million needed. Every donation helps, and we are proud to be working towards such a positive change.

“Everyone at The Children’s Hospital Charity is so grateful for all of BGES Group’s support of our 2022 snowflake campaign! This is the third year BGES Group have sponsored a snowflake – making it the third year the company have made a massive difference to Sheffield Children’s Hospital,” commented Harriet Keynes, Corporate Partnerships Assistant at the Children’s Hospital Charity.

“We would like to say a massive thank you to BGES Group for being such generous supporters of The Children’s Hospital Charity – we couldn’t do what we do without you!”

A snowflake worth smiling about

The Snowflake Appeal gets its name from the lights that go up in honour of a donation. Snowflakes dazzle the outside of the hospital and other local landmarks, as a thanks to those supporting the helipad fund.

The annual light switch on will be the 5th of December. Last year, eight-year-old Oliver Howe had the pleasure of turning on the lights. He was treated at Sheffield Children’s for a brain tumour and received lifesaving care from the hospital.

Gareth Barber, Managing Director at BGES Group, said, “This Christmas, we are proud to be able to contribute to the Helipad Appeal at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Their hard work is lifechanging – and it’s an honour to support their efforts.”
