BG Energy Solutions (BGES) has scooped two coveted Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) awards – which recognise excellence in building controls and building energy management.
BGES was crowned winner of both the Best Service and Maintenance Provider and Energy Management categories. The two awards were in recognition of the company’s work with Vue Entertainment, a client with which BGES has a 20 year relationship.
The BCIA Awards – held on 11 May 2017 – brought together manufacturers, installers and customers in a celebration of the best projects and technologies in the sector.
BGES was commended for its design and implementation of a unique real-time energy monitoring and maintenance bureau for Vue’s 85 UK and Ireland cinemas. The challenge was to maintain a high level of customer comfort, while reducing energy and maintenance costs.
Gareth Barber, Managing Director of BGES comments: “We are thrilled to have been recognised by such a respected industry body as the BCIA with our two award wins. It’s testament to the hard work, dedication and significant talents of our team. We have always been proud to offer tailored solutions that precisely match customer need, and these awards reflect this ethos.”
For Vue, BGES’ remote bureau service is open 24/7, manned by skilled engineers who are fully trained across all BMS brands. BGES undertakes reactive and proactive investigation, alarm and energy monitoring, and resolves nearly 99% of all calls remotely, saving Vue more than £550k a year in prevented call outs.
Marking a step change in hospitality energy management, BGES wrote a bespoke software programme which monitors auditorium occupancy and adjusts the heating and ventilation accordingly. This is a first in the cinema sector and is saving Vue 61% on energy per year.
BGES also created a custom programme which pulls plant performance information into a user-friendly ‘front end’ for Vue’s facilities staff: This has played a crucial role in Vue’s ability to assess energy use and report on energy saving targets.
